PC's in our office are increasingly restarting themselves (four this week alone). In the Event Viewer the following stop error message is always present - Event Soutce: System Error, Event Category: (102), Event ID: 1003, Description: Error Code 000000d1 then various parameter entries.
The systems are all XP SP1 with MS Antispyware, Office and various financial packages running. Web searches indicate it may be faulting memory but to have so many machines go in such a short space of time seems unlikely. I have run memory diagnostics on one of the machines and it comes back with no errors.

Has anyone else experienced this sort of thing or can anyone suggest what the problem could be.

Thanks for looking.

I suggest you use the Windows XP Recovery console and run the chkdsk commands on one of the machines and see if that helps matters.

Is there any specific text in the error message?

try: chkdsk /p or chkdsk /r

Usually a first port of call with these sort of things, may help, certainly worth a shot before you start doing too much fiddling :)

Have you changed any hardware lately?

What has been installed or updated on these machine within the last week? Maybe it is time to try SP2?

Turn off automatically restart on these machine and see if you can get the full BSOD message, it may list the System Driver which is causing the problem.

Thanks guys - i have looked through the minidumps produced by these crashes and it seems it may be coincidence as two of the machines reported the Matrox quad driver was the cause and the third was due to the Bloomberg keyboard. I will reinstall the latest drivers for these and see if this helps. The fourth machine was a lock rather than a crash. Thanks again.
