this problem is extremely anoying.. we have some comps here on a network, the machines are '98se we have about 8 or so of them.. the problem is restarting, rebooting, relogging on.. things of that nature.. we click the "reboot" the screen flashes and just sits there.. like you never asked it to reboot..

anybody have similar problems?

All the time......Chalk it up to poor operating system. Solution ---> Live with it....Or switch to Unix. Thank goodness for the reset key.....It's Window's best friend.

i understand how good unix is.. but this is for the workplace.. as you can see.. and i can't get the guys to switch away from windows.. if i had any say, we'd all be using macs..

and for the work environment, windows is better suited than unix.. at least for our business. you think all the people there would leave windows? lets be real..

Do you have your virus protection set to scan the floppy drive on shutdown?

Or maybe you have a sound driver that should be rem'd from the win.ini file?

This worked for alot of our machines. Also a good defragging couldn't hurt. :)

heh, i have defrag set to go at 1am every 4th friday.. just to show you how these computers are used, it takes less than 10 minutes ;)

i'll get rid of the sound driver, since no one can use sound anyway.

why scan the floppy? we do have anti-virus setup.. constantly updating lists..
