Machine Name Changes

I am at a client and they are going to be re-doing the entire network. Part of this is going around to all client machines and changing the machine names to a company standard. When this gets done will SMS 2.0 automatically update the database by removing the old if it does not see the old machine names any more? Or will we have to delete line by line all the old machine names?

We have just started this same process. We have done 170 clients with 7000 to go. SMS 2.0 SP1 automatically picked up on the change and changed the info in the database. It took about 1 day for the change to be reflected.<br>

SMS automatically creates a delta file which is refreshed with every software and hardware inventory. This delta file is sent to the database to refresh the data.
