Hi,

My Windows2000 Pro machine is extremely slow responding to any click and request. I've done Disk Cleanup, Defrag, run Ad Aware, and checked that there are no energy-sapping processes running, but no difference. Could this be due to the fact that I did an upgrade to W2K Pro from Win ME instead of doing a clean install? (Okay silly me for doing that!)

Any advice would be much appreciated!

It may be the 'upgrade' - as there is no official upgrade path from ME to 2k (ME was released after 2k) - though I know others have managed to do this also.

if this started out right after the upgrade then it is a good chance it is the upgrade I never recommend an upgrade

Another reason could be which I have experienced in the past is your Microsoft Office Language bar assuming you have Microsoft office if your Language bar is turned on or if you have used it and it is still turned off it will slow down your pc.

the best way to tell is when it slows down is to go to your task manager go to processes and find out which process is taking up most of your reources usually that is where your problem would be.
