When i'm on the internet sometimes my monitor switches off and the only thing i can do is reeboot. Also when i browsing a long page and i scroll down it just hangs. Ctrl + Alt + del doent work on these two problems, i have to keep my finger on the power button.

What's your operating system?

How much RAM do you have?

Processor Speed and Type?

What video card are you using 1MB, 2MB, 4MB, 8MB, 16MB?

How many items are loading in the bottom right hand corner of your desktop when you first boot up?

What browser are you using on the internet? Internet Explorer/Netscape/other?

If you answer the questions, I or someone else may be able to help you figure this dilemma out.

Good Luck,

Lori ggebhart@clover.net

Sounds like finiky video card. Try installing latest drivers for Video, otherwise try yanking it and installing spare video card.

This should work. Let me know if this helped. Good Luck! -md

lgebhart: My Pc Has an AMD Athlon 500mhz + 200mhz front side bus with 224mb Ram, an ATI all in wonder 128 with 32mb ram. I use Internet explorer for browsing. 6 programs are loaded on the taskbar.

maddogtech: I don't have a spare graphics card and I've downloaded the latest drivers, but it still does it!

Thanks for your replys!

Doesn't sound like you should have a resource problem, so I'll skip that for now,so........

Have you looked in power management? Go to START/SETTINGS/CONTROL PANEL/POWER MANAGEMENT....there is a place that tells the monitor to shut down after X minutes of inactivity. Set it to NEVER.

Not sure about the mouse....what kind is it? USB, WIRELESS, SERIAL, PS/2.....attached to the monitor per chance??????

Good Luck,

The mouse is PS/2. I'll check the power settings but surley it can't be that because it does it as i'm moving the mouse, and when it goes to standby it's sposed to resume!

Think i may have found something for ya to try. Go to desktop properties, then settings tab. Choose advanced settings and then the performance tab. Move the slider 1 space from the right and try that.

power mgt was written for laptops and is often a problem, so dont overlook turning it off in windows as a possible fix.

also try this, if you dont have any information on the monitor try another one or unplug the monitor from the computer and turn it on -you should see something like, no input signal recd and some color bars-it varies from mfg to mfg, if you dont, the monitor could be bad.

you might also turn off all other programs but the ones u are using on the net and try it.

please do post the results, im interested.
thanks
