We are running a Linux Red Hat server and are having problems with our os 10.3 machines staying connected to the server. It seems if there is no internet or server activity for about 20 minutes, the mac disconnects itself from the server automatically. Our OS 9 machines and don't have any problems.

Is anyone aware of an issue between linux and Mac OSX or have any informationon this? Does the connection need to be AFP or SMB? Any help is greatly appreciated as we are going to upgrade all of our Macs at the new year.

I have a similar issue where 10.3 disconnects from a Win2k server after an indetermined amount of time of inactivity (overnight).

I am running a small subnet with Win2k, WinXp, and OSX and the Mac drops the connection while the Win machines don't (overnight). So far it hasn't been a big deal but something that I've noticed. The connection is via AFP.
