I have made a dual boot interactive cd rom (Mac & PC), which works flawlessly in pc, but in macintosh systems it plays about 1 second of music at the start, then pauses the music and graphics for about 3 seconds, then continues to play.
I have a 3 second delay at the start of the score in frame 1 telling it to pause before it starts the graphics and music.
The music is stored as an external cast member and the file size is 3.86 meg, it is also an (Macintosh)aif file.
It is set to preload before the first frame also.

The music starts in the first frame of the score and i have tried putting it back a little bit but it doesnt seem to make a difference.

What can i do to stop it from creating that pause and make it look more professional, it is the second project i have made that does it, and it only happens on a macintosh?

Ive tested it on the latest G4 as well as an older G3.

Please any help would be a huge help as the client wanting this project to be finished is getting a bit shirty.
Thanks.

Do you use code to play your sounds? If not try shifting over to code, one simple command, puppetsounds "soundname",soundchannel and it will start playing. This way it will only start when you tell it to.

I worked out what it was, although at first i thought it was the file size of the wav/aif file that was too big, so i changd it down to 8 bit 11,000khz mono, which didnt make any difference, but when i went in to the preload options on the actual wave file, only after clicking on the list view mode, i was able to see that the pre load idle was set to 2, when a cast member is set to any of the pre load idle commands it compresses it thus the decompression when playing nad the pausing, so when i set it to 0 it means that is does not compress, therefore does not have to decompress, and i do not get any pausing.
It took me a bit of reading to find out exactly and a few cd,s burnt to work it out, but its done now.
I put the wav file back up to 16bit 41,000 khz mono and well it started to pause again, so i guess that it requires you to have a smaller file size as well as the pre load idle option on 0.
thanks for your reply anyway.

How did you make your CD cross-platform? I'm having the most trouble doing that.
