We have an MA 4000 we use to manage 13 NEC PBX's and 8 AVST voice mail servers. Is anyone familiar with the user portion of the MA? I have multiple identical user appearances that do not have a voice mail or phone attached to the system. I know i can delete them but am not sure how to make sure they dont come back again. this issue makes database maintenance a nightmare.

Not sure if i understand your question –
Are you trying to not reuse these extensions when adding phones? for example we excluded certain extensions ranges so a tech can not add them – under feature commands you can assign excluded numbers

NEC does offer free training –on the MA4000 go to the web site , they have installation and management – it goes over the features at a high level

From what i gather there is one system that is repopulating the database with duplicate users. For example if John Does User ID is 10001 today, tomorrow there will be a duplicate entry for John Doe but his new User ID is 10015 and his old one is considered orphaned. The system does this without interaction other than the daily synchronization. I have found that the trouble is limited to one of our systems but cannot stop the sync's as the info gathered is vital to operation. I have had the MA4000 online training and found it useful in some regards. The question is related to the user field not the extension field.

FYI... there is a bug in the MA4000 regarding this issue. we have an SQL script in place as a temp fix until NEC can have their developers review.

I think the problem here is that MA4000 is a product, the sole intention of which is to reduce the need for technicians. The only problem is that it is too technical and has flaws. I won't get involved with what those flaws are but it is ironic that in order to find out what is wrong with the product it requires..... a technician!

Nothing can substitute years of experience and you only have to look at the "Jinglish" in other NEC packages to see that this is bound to have difficulties. A prime example of the limitations of these attempts to "userfy" the programming is the GUIs in matworx. If you have a Qmaster and use the ACD GUI you are in deep problems, but the only way to know why is to learn the system and how it interacts with Qmaster.

Anyway enough of my criticism. Good luck in getting a resolution.

The funny thing about your last post is that I have had to put in more hours and get more support from NEC than i have had to in the past. The MA4000 is more anti telecom user friendly but if you dont know telecom then the product is useless. i agree totally that there is no comparison to years of learning. i am a firm believer that you cant make an omlette without breaking a few eggs. Trial and error on the MA dont go together very well. Besides i have found that there are still commands that i use in MAT that dont exist in the MA yet.
