Newb here to ask dumb questions:

The system worked fine (for years) Yesterday Verizon was down locally for over 24 hours. Verizon tells us "you are back up" yet we have no *tone*.

I have powered down the system to no avail.

I have experience with this system, just haven't seen this problem.

Help.

You need to call a vendor and have them prove dial tone at the demarc, if none they can call verizon and report the issue as their side.

We have tone (all 5 lines)

Checked out by Verizon and *me* :)

I didn't trust them!

Did you verify that the programming on the 8x24 is still intact? It's a good chance that the battery has died sometime ago therefore a power cycle could result in the system losing all it's memory. It would probably be best to call in a Norstar tech to look at your system.

I had just read where somebody was suggesting the battery in another thread :(

Right now, all the internal extensions work, the VM works.

If the battery died, from I understand, I would have lost everything?

Thanks curly!

I'll check line voltage this morning.

Thanks Norstar!

Button programming is correct on every phone! I did check that yesterday!

Still no go.

When I hit the "line 1" button it gives me a "not in service"

When I *0 the buttons are still labeled "MUP1" etc. (which is correct)

I have dialed out on all 5 of the incoming lines, and dialed in checking caller ID numbers

Check Maintenance to see if line cards are disabled.

"MUP1" did you rename the lines. Default is Line001,etc?

Just to rule out a few things, I suggest you put an analog phone on the emergency phone pair on the lines block (hopefully the ksu amp cables are fully punched out) and see if you have dial tone when the ksu is powered down.

He said the system was a 8x24 so no trunk cards are in the main cabinet, that is unless he's using a 12x0 but I highly doubt 5 trunk ports went bad at the same time. You should double check the amp cable for the CO's like stated above.

Thanks for the all suggestions!!

The nearest NorStar techs are 1hr-1.5hr away (no traffic)

(misseditbythatmuch) = I do have tone when it's powered down on the E-Line

(curly) = I'll check Loop this morning. I believe I have seen this as I popped through the programming

(northstarboy125) = I do have and 8X0 sitting next to the 8X24!

(allworxguy) = I have seen this also while popping through config/programming. I did rename them "MUP1,MUP2 etc

WOW!! I grabbed another KSU I had (same model M8x24-DS) and NO tone!! arrrggggghhhh!! :(

I did reuse the program from the original KSU.

Just adding my 2 cents, make sure you are getting dial tone to the plus into the ksu. If the lines are going through an alarm system, line controller device or ect. DT may not be getting to the ksu. But Curly is right, a tech would or should have it fixed by now.
