M7310 set not working in one outlet but will work on anouher

have a site that is connected via buried cable. one office will not come up but when I take it to anouther it works fine, will also work at MDF. i can take my test phone and it will work in the location that will not come up. have never come up on a situation that a port will not work for one set and work for anouther. could it be a voltage problem out of the KSU.

What is your test phone?

Did you flip ports on the working and none working locations?

How far is the jack from the KSU?

Sounds like borderline distance where a PS is required on the 2nd pair at the phone.

You can also try to double up the pairs from the KSU port to the jack.

my test set is a m7310 , we have other sets in the same building with no problems and even some sets that are further from ksu . i will try a new pair or even doubling up

You can also test that pair with an ohm meter. Put your meter across the pairs still connected to KSU and set it to DCV at 200 or 20 and you should get a reading of 19.9 volts DC..

Also just a thought, troubleshooting steps you can take.
1-open jack to make sure pair is terminated correctly
2- go across the pair with a butt set to listen for a data tone from the KSU station port side
3- if you are getting data tone then test with meter for DCV
sometimes you will get a data tone but not sufficient DCV.

You can implement either one of the two previous posts and you also want to ensure you have a good pair..
