Over the last year the earpiece volume degrades to the point that the phone is not usable. Initally increasing the volume on the phone helps but this is temporary. Have replaced the handsets with new and the new ones work fine, however after a period of time the same thing starts to happen. Not happening on all phones in our system, but some phone handsets have been replaced multiple times.

No changes have been made to our system (added phones or extentions). We have 13 phones on the system.

How do the affected instruments sound in Speakerphone mode? You said you replaced the handsets. Did you also replace the handset cords at the same time? They could be going bad.

Verify your using set volume instead of system volume in programming. That may help, or you could just have bad handsets.

Speakerphone mode works fine. Handset cords have been changed, (also switching a bad handset with a good handset works fine on existing cord). We are using set volume on our system.

Any more ideas??

Thanks.

For clarification this is happening to about 5 or 6 of the phones in the office not just a single unit.

Maybe they are giving you the old stuff.

The following is the minimum release telephone set required for the 'Use set volume' feature:

M7100 - All releases
M7208 - Release 16
M7310 - Release 16
M7324 - Release 05
