M7100 On BCM Problem

I have a problem on a BCM400 with expansion cabinet. The software is 3.5. It has been in for a year running fine except for the chronic problem of M7100's not getting intercom dialtone when you go off hook. The pushing of the "RLS" button or the "Feature" buttom usually brings up the intercom dialtone. If the phone is changed it will work for a few weeks but the same condition will come back. I find that if I try the "defective" phone on a Norstar system later it works fine. I have not seen a condition where just one model of set has a common problem like this. I have no T-series type on BCM and did not have this problem with the old Modular ICS I changed out with the BCM.

Are the extensions on the main system or on the expansion cabinet?

Is it a particular extension or is it all extensions that have m7100 handsets?

I know that the problem has involved more than one, at least 6 or more that I know of. I do not know whether they are on the main cabinet or spread out through the BCM. I can check that today.

The M7100's are all on the main unit spread through Buss's 2,3, and 4 which are 32+ station modules. The remaining slot in the main supports a GATM (buss 7). The expansion has a GATM module(buss 7) and a combo(4x16)on Buss 6 which has ports used by a wireless Spectralink but no trunking connections. The same condition is present with all M7100's in that going off hook with PRIME set for "I/C" in programming you get nothing unless you press 1 of the 3 keys on the M7100 (usually the "rls") which then brings up the internal dialtone and lets you use the set however you like. I have also taken these sets to another operational BCM and they work fine. I hope someone has a thought about this. Thanx

Just one question about your placement of the modules Belltek.
You indicate that you have a GATM on Bus 7 and a 4X16 on Bus 6.
The 4X16 module will take up 2 Bus's(whatever you set the dip switch settings for, the module will take up the next Bus automatically), 1 for the lines and the next Bus for the stations. If you have a GATM on 7 and the dip switch for the 4X16 module is set for 6, that will create a conflict with the two modules since the 4X16 will automatically set the 16 digital stations on Bus 7, which already has a GATM on it.

Not sure that will resolve your problem but if that is the placement of your modules, that setup will create a conflict.
