M3905 sets failing on Firmware update to version 93

Hi all,

I am wondering if there is anyone out there who has had a similar issue when updating M3905 sets to version 93? I have manually tried to update a phone which is idle in LD 32. I've not forced the firmware, simply issued the FDLU XX XX XX XX command to the TN, the phone display shows it is updating the firmware, however it get to the end and gets stuck indefinitely causing the switch to lock all of the overlays out.

It's not doing it on all phones I update (all version 89's), most are okay, but everytime this happens I am having to come back into work to initialise the switch as well as unplug the phone. Once the phone is unplugged it seems to kill it, as it says it's awaiting download, so is there anyway to avoid this happening (guessing not?) and is there anyway to reset them back to a usable state... or is a case of it's now a dead set and to replace it?

Thanks in advance!

Regards,

Jon

Details:
Unable to access any overlays on call server, OVL306 given on TTY. This was the result of a failed FDLU to an M3903 telset in my case, I suspect pertinent to all M3900 range of phones however.
After accessing load 32 by using the suspension command and an FWVU is run against the affected TN you get 'PSDL IS NOT IDLE' message

Fix:
Use the suspend command to access ld 32, use fdlc to cancel the suspended command, disable & enable the affected card and re-commence a subseqent FDLU.
This time, in my case, the download was successful.

If it's working, then leave it alone!.

We had this same issue with about 1% of our 3904s during the upgrade to 93. We ended up just removing them from service and I will have to perform the action that firebird suggests. Thank you for letting us know that disabling and re-enabling should fix it. I thought our vendor tried that, but not sure.

Thanks for the quick reply guys. I have done the LD 32 suspend command and FDLC (even though it's a one off download and not enabled in LD 97 for batch runs) and it's still giving me OLV306.

I had this problem the other month and unfortunately it look like I will again be coming in at the weekend to initialise the switch.

I've removed the dud phone from circulation now too, I might plug it into the switch this weekend and give it another go. If I plug it in, it erases the flash memory and then goes back to awaiting download, but in the past forcing the firmware hasn't worked and it wont update from FDLU as it says the unit is not idle :S

Thanks for all the advice on this one guys, unfortunately the only thing that worked was to initialise the switch, however there is some other underlying fault as my colleague doesn't get the same issue on our other site (both 81C with the same feature packages, patching etc etc).

I have however found a way around this problem, which is to update the phones through LD 32 in the UCM, it even brought the previously dead M3905 sets back to life :)
