Has anybody setup M3905 as attendant consoles. We are going to switch from 2250s to M3905s. I am looking to find out what kind of issues I will have

Why 3905's? Are you going to do an ACD que for your inbound calls? The 3905 is an ACD phone and consequently will function as that. You will lose console functions that you may be used to on the consoles, such as the ICI keys, Intercept, Night mode etc. Without a console your switch is in night mode all the time. Lots of function will be lost. I would see what features your operators use prior to making this change.

We are going to use acd. Can we program 0 to go to the acd group

Yes, you should be able to change the Attendant DN to be your ACD que. In the Customer Data Block under ATT Data

If you use ACDs and 3905s.... how do you propose to hold calls?? Best I see is 1 on the phone, and thats it.

All great points. I'm a console bigot. Can someone confirm the future of the M2250

The 2250 is MD and has been for quite some time. However, there is still lots of them on the secondary market. I think this is one of the easiest consoles to use I have ever seen and is a shame they are doing away with it.

Just my observation on the 2250 back in the day when we were installing Option switches all the time; when we replaced a Rolm system, the operators loved the 2250 console. When we replaced an AT&T Definity or Dimension, the operators hated the 2250.

I attended Purdue University from 1995 to 1999. While there, we upgraded from an old GTD 4600 PBX to a Nortel Meridian SL-100 with Option 81C cabinets. As a student, I worked on the switchboard for a time and experienced the cutover first hand. I went from old 1980 woodgrain/one line LED consoles to the Centrex SL-100 consoles. Since we had Options cabinets, I always questioned why we never went with the M2250s. The Union hotel had an Options Switch with a M2250, so I asked why we didn't have them on the switchboard. I guess there were many things that the management claimed couldn't be run of the m2250 sets.....especially since there were only so many digital lines running of the Option 81C cabinet and the rest were analog running of the SL-100.

Then in 2000, they upgraded to a PC based software, which did ok, but they weren't totally satisfied with it since it was not a Nortel product.

They have since upgraded to a CS2100 and last year they upgraded their consoles to M3904 sets with KEM's. Apparently the newer technology has allowed these phones to act as Attendant Consoles, at least for what they need at Purdue. I still don't know why they didn't go with the M3905s.....
