what is the way to connect the M2250 console to the smile software without the pc console hardware from nortel??

The smile software has to be installed on a computer and it has to be connected to a Nortel CIU (Console Interface Unit) in the same way that Datapulse is provided.

Otherwise, you will have to reuse the old M2250 console.

If it's working, then leave it alone!.

i heared that i can use the M2250 instead of the CIU. is that true??

Yes you can use a M2250 or a CIU, a M2250 has 2 x 25 Pin RS232 connections, one is used to connect the 25 pair which connects to the Meridian, the other can connect to a Smile PC using a 25 to 9 Pin cable. I prefer using a M2250 console with Smile or any other PC Console, as if the PC Crashes/Fails the operator can stil take calls using the M2250 in the 'old fashion manner'.

thank you MossEng, but what is the way to connect the M2250 to the PC with a smile software on it, is it just a regular 25 to 9 pin cable??

Yes its a regular 25 - 9 pin Cable, like you would use to connect your Laptop to an Option 11 TTY port
