M2008 + Headset

My first post on this forum

Im trying to use a headset with a M2008 and the only thing i know i have to do is to allow HFA but i get this message:

(SCH3683) For 2x16 set, handsfree Class of Service is defined. Cannot assign key 15 as it is handsfree key.

What is wrong?

you don't need to change programming to use a headset.

But you might want to check and make sure that the phone is programmed as a 2008 because you should not have gotten that error.

Hawks is right. A 2008 does not have a key 15, only 0 through 7. HFA is handsfree allowed, but most 2008's will only allow you to hear over the speaker. There is no external microphone, except I do believe there was/is a 2008HF model. The headset, if Plantronics, needs to be on channel 5 to work with a Meridian phone.

THE 2008 WAS NOT SOFTWARE DRIVEN FOR HF IT WAS HARDWARE DRIVEN THAT WHY YOU WILL GET A SCH CODE WHEN YOU TRY TO PROGRAM HFA, BUT YOU DO HAVE TO ADD NDD IN THE CLS SO YOU CAN ADD THE HF BUTTON ON KEY 7

handsfree will work on key 6 on a 2008 hf, but you shouldn't have to set up handsfree to make a headset work.

Hi!

The type of the phone is M2008 according to OTM.

I am a newbie in this field and do not work so much with it plus my english is not so great.
My first reaction when it did not work was that i had to allow something in OTM and HFA sounded like a good thing. You do not use your hands so much with a headset

So maby im having some hardware problems, headset maby broke or something like that. I will try the headset on another M2008 and report back here if i still have some problems.
