Hi All,

First of all has anybody used the NT2K40WA? If so, is there a power board that gets installed on the 2616D as well? If so, does anybody know the part number for the power board? We use to have a 2616D with a on-board NT2K40WA. Somewhere along the line the phone was removed and is now MIA. I don't remember if a power board was needed in the phone.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Jeremy

I found three old records below that might help?

Problem
Aries 2 telsets (M2616 M2216 M2008) and the use of external power with
add on modules or display. (AOM DSP SDPL)

Answer
The improvement to the sets allow the M2008 to be fitted with a display and the M2616 to have add on modules without the use of the external power transformer.
If MCA's are required with the sets the external power is required.r.
Aries 2 for this set ARE NOW INTRODUCED 1/FEB/97 & WILL REQUIRE A POWER BOARD &TRANSFORMER.

The AB06 version of M2216 will provide the same functionality as the A44 version and is fully backward compatible. However, there are some improvements in terms of transmission performance (noise) and powering requirements. The following section describes the changes that are being introduced.
Differences between M2216 A44 and M2216 AB06
The following changes have been introduced on M2216 AB06:
1) M2216 AB06 introduces loop powering for the Key Expansion Modules.
Loop powering for Key Expansion Modules was introduced on Aries II in 1995 for the remainder of the Aries portfolio (M2006, M2008, M2008D, M2616 and M2616D) and this strategy was carried forward with the Orion portfolio. As M2216 remained on A44 technology, it still required additional powering if a Key Expansion Module is added. With the AB06 programme, the M2216 comes into line with the other sets in the portfolio, eliminating the need for such powering. As with the other sets in the portfolio, additional power is still required if an MCA or external alerter is installed.
2) There is also an improved signal to noise ratio over M2216 A44 (results in lower level of background noise/hiss when using a headset).
3) As with all other sets in the Meridian portfolio, the M2216 AB06 will now only support the global handset (NT0C09EL).
4) All sets will have an alphanumeric keypad (at present some variants of M2216 are supplied with a numeric only keypad - see list below for details).
5) Minor change to top cover plastic (remove an indentation).
6) The Aries III sets will incorporate the Power Connector Board which means that a power board will not be required when an MCA is installed.

One of the disadvantages of the Nortel CTI strategy has been the product and installation cost of the MCA. From an installation perspective, the installer has to open the phone up completely and install a power board. This is a difficult and time consuming operation and in addition to the actual cost for the power board, increases the overall cost for the CTI solution. As part of an initiative which is being implemented across the Meridian terminals portfolio, the M2216 AB06 will eliminate the requirement for a power board when an MCA is to be installed.
Each phone will be shipped with a connector board already installed in the phone. To install an MCA, the user simply removes the footstand, installs the MCA and replaces the footstand. The transformer then plugs directly into the footstand. A different transformer and MCA are required than previously supplied (although the older transformer (A0367914/A0352117) and older MCA (NT2K65XJ/XL/XR) can still be used with power board as before). Note that this new arrangement for MCA powering cannot be used if a Key Expansion Module is installed as the Single and Double footstands have not been modified to accept the new transformer jack.
The power board will still be required if an external alerter is installed. Thus the new MCA is incompatible with the external alerter - both cannot be used in the same M2216.

M2616 Digital Set Power Supply Board NT2K10WD

The above board replaces an earlier variant (NT2K10WC) and is causing confusion with field engineers as to backward compatibility with digital sets manufactured pre mid -1994.

The board is backward compatible: to allow installation in older digital sets as above requires both the discarding of the ribbon cable normally connected to the 90° angled pins projecting through the rear of the board, but also requires removal of the 90° connector pin assembly itself, which simply slides out.
