Download NavisConnect from Lucent/Ascend's FTP site (ftp://ftp.ascend.com/pub/Software-Releases/NavisConnect/). Hopefully the SNMP password wasn't changed. If not then you can use this utility to access the router and download the configs. Then open the config with a text editor (i.e. Notepad). Scan the file until you see "Security". Look for Full access password there.
If this fails then you'll have to reset the router back to factory defaults via the NINDY procedure. This requires opening the unit and shorting a certain pin. I believe
I changed IOS from tck.m60 to tik.m60 now system does not come up. I am connected to it using serial port com1 and this is the message I get using hyperterminal.

Is there any way I can reset the unit back to manufacture default? using jumpers.
This process can be done without removing the case. However space will be very tight and it is recommended that you remove the cover.
Cover removal method.
1. With all cables and power removed, remove all cards from the box open the case and orient the LEDs toward you (the front).
2. Locate P10 and short it. It is in the right side card slot space toward the center of the board near the left rear corner of the CPU.
3. Attach the serial and power cables. Power up at 9600 N-8-1 no flow control
# . At the => prompt enter DF then upload the correct version of firmware.
# Down load the software using Xmodem 9600-N-8-1 no flow control.
# Power down the unit, remove the jumper reassemble the case and power it back up.
# Leaving the terminal/serial connection set at 9600, configure the Max through the onscreen menus, or use the configurator.
Cover in-place method.
1. With all cables and power removed, remove all cards from the box and orient the rear panel of box so the card openings are toward you. Remove the card covers on the left side.
2. Reach into the left side card opening and locate the 2 pairs of jumper about 2/3 of the way in. P10 is the left pin pair. Short this pair.
3. Attach the serial and power cables. Power up at 9600 N-8-1 no flow control
4. At the => prompt enter DF then upload the correct version of firmware.
5. Down load the software using Xmodem 9600-N-8-1 no flow control.
6. Power down the unit and remove the jumper. Reattach the serial and power cables and power it back up.
7. Leaving the terminal/serial connection set at 9600, configure the Max through the onscreen menus, or use the configurator.
I have trying for near 5 hours to delete the privilege password of a Ascend MAX 6000,
I have found some information that says that if you downgrade the TAOS the configuration
goes to the default set up and you only need to reconfigure the access server but this not
happened until I manually erase the flash and pcmcia card. I don't know if this is the write
procedure but it worked for me
1- insert jumper p10: remove all the cards and insert your hand over the pcmcia card slots 20cm and connect the left jumper ( you can find 2 jumper there)
2- get a terminal software with xmodem protocol, I have used windows HyperTerminal
3- set the software to 9600 N-8-1 no flow-control
4- power on the max 6000
you will get a prompt =>
5- try he or ? and you will get NINDY help
6- change the terminal speed, if not it will take to long the download
ba 57600
8- change the terminal software speed 57600 N-8-1 no flow-control
with the HyperTerm is better to have 2 direct com configurations saved
close the one at 9600 and open the one with 57600
9- check the connection type nindy help command
he
10- if its working be sure you have the TAOS image in your hard disk.
you can get them in ftp.ascend.com/pub/software-release/MAX
example ebaxk.m60
11- erase the onboard flash
ef
12- load the new image
df
(go to the software and send with xmodem protocol the image file)
13- if download was successful
erase the pcmcia
ef p
14- load to the pcmcia the same image
dp
(go to the software and send with xmodem protocol the image file)
15 turn off the max 6000
16 remove the jumper
17 change the terminal software speed 9600 N-8-1 no flow-control
18 turn on the max 6000 and you should have the factory settings now
PD: if you read all the information on the lucent pdf files it says this kind
of upgrades are risky, if you find a different method to delete the configuration
without having the privilege password use it.
