I am trying to install a Dell Powervault LT4000 library on my TSM server which is a Windows2003 server. Where can I find supporting documentation to achieve this upgrade ??

Hi

The following IBM page gives the configuration information I think you are looking for:

or just search IBM site for the doc ref: 1238577

According to IBM, you need TSM 5.3.5 or higher to support the library you are using.

I realize we have a serious need to upgrade the TSM version and that is being worked out as we speak. However, I also have a lack of storage issue and I really need to get this library online. Is there any way I can tweak my TSM 5.1 into handling the new library ?? Maybe a PTF ?? Your help is really appreciated.

Hi

Problem is, the TSM code needs to be updated in order to understand LTO4 drive & tape formats. The library volumes table has a media-specific field for LTO tapes, and the value of this field depends on the LTO generation being used.

I'm not saying it can't be done - but I haven't the first clue how you'd go about making it work. The LTO4-aware TSM code was released well after updates for TSM 5.1 stopped shipping.
