Hi all,
Is there any way when using <input type=file blah ...

to get the resulting "browse" box to default to a given directory instead of C:\ and also any way to specify file types or names ?

TIA

Why do you want to do this. User can browse to its selected directory. Momin ho to bay taigh bhee lerta hay sipahee

Hi mate,

It is not possible, not using ethical methods anyway.

The reason being that the security of the user takes preference over your design choices.

If this could be done then it would also be possible to simulate the action and upload a file through a hidden field in a form, which could result in your operating system password file being uploaded to a site without your knowledge.

Hope this helps Wullie

K thanks Wullie, makes sense really .

I wanted to do this as I have to allow for some seriously intellectually challenged users who are unable to grasp the simplest of concepts.

If it was possible to find the directory and locat files of a type using a file mask it would reduce my stress level by about 10000000000%.

Shame really, gonna have to teach old dogs (read it how you like :)) new tricks. ______________________________________________________________________
