Running Windows XP, after a long period of working, the operating system starts to interpret <ctrl>key commands as <ctrl><alt>key commands. Often the keyboard won't accept any input and only the mouse works.

Has anybody ever come across this before, and is there an answer to it.

Thanks

Maybe it is just a faulty keyboard (or connection), do you have another one you can try?

I don't have a solution, but I wish I did. I've seen this behaviour on two laptops and a desktop. Sometimes other bad things happen at the same time, such as the inability to type in lower-case, whether the CapsLock light is on or off. I guess it's clunky code in the keyboard driver.

Sometimes logoff/logon fixes it, sometimes reboot is needed. Just another miracle from Redmond.
