what is the command to enable the an S8300 LSp to come back on-line with its "main" S8xx "auotmatically rather then the "reset system 4 " > I have seen G350 come back on-line if in LSP after a circuit comes back up withoit manual intervention > I thought with CM3.0 and above this was a
default setting in the LSP Module "keepalive"

fyi running 3.0.1 on all Core and LSP sites

The way the Avaya engineer explained to me was that it did attempt to 'keepalive' for a certain period of time, but if it continues to be unsuccessfull then it would fail over to LSP mode. Once this occurs, the only option for resetting the link is the manual 'reset system 4' method.

It's not the LSP that will come back on-line but the media gateways that will try to re-register with the ICC. Try the command 'ch sys mg-recovery-rule-x' and assign this rule to the media gateways.

I am aware of this ... 'ch sys mg-recovery-rule-x' where x is the media gateway. The timer parameter there says 3 to 15 minutes.

In your opinion, what is a reasonable number that you have been using or seen ?

For the person asking the original question ... you might want to consider IGAR to go along with this too.

i thought you should go into the gateway & do a reset system 4

going into the gateway and doing a reset system 4 is prior to CM release 3

Hi, I'm new to this "reset system 4"? can someone explain this to me? and how can i do this?

Also is there such a reset system 1/2/3?

go to the gateway that is in LSP directly. make sure no traffic is on the trunks and at the command line type reset sys 4. this restarts the gateway and makes it send a regestration to the main server ( s8700). If you are running cm 3.0 or higher the gateway should do this on its own.

Also you can execute the command get forced takeover xxxxx to do this without a reset 4.

CM 3.0

if you are running 3.0 or higher it will only do it on it's own if you "ch sys mg-recovery-rule-x", x being the media-gateway, you will also have to add the rule to the media-gateway page as well.
