Hello all, have an S8300 3.1 LSP just went in all works okay but modems don't work, incoming works fine but outgoing get disconnet from fax or get garbage if dialing out on laptop. Is there a setting i need to check they are going out on VOIP trunking, anything helps thanks.

Yeah, well you already stated your problem: "VOIP Trunking", it just plain doesn't work well with modems or FAX machines, and, there isn't really a way to fix it. I would suggest getting a POTS line for the modem, and your problems will disappear.

make sure fax and modem is set to "pass-through" on page 2 of ip-codec-set 2

from the MGP do a "show sync timing" and paste the result

Pasmundo, you may find some help here: thread690-1476858

definityandcmuk, setting both to pass-through conflicts with what Mitch said in the thread I just linked. I've also seen conflicting info in the little bit of Avaya Documentation I've been able to find that discusses modems.

I'm starting to believe there is no hard and fast answer and that it actually depends on all the variables in a given environment.

Thanks all for your help, we decided to go with pots lines after using all our options, hopefully this will be ironed out next year.
