Has anyone been able to use Crystal reports with LearningSpace? We can run custom reports from a local machine, but are not quite sure how to get the reports to run once uploaded to the reporter. Do we need to load Crystal on the Core server first?

My team is having the same problem. We also have not determined how to integrate parameter prompts with LearningSpace.

Well, I'll post this as information in case anyone needs it.

We were able to get parameter-based reports to run using Crystal Enterprise ePortfolio. What we did is load Enterprise on the LS server and set up a DSN for it to the Oracle DB.

We then created custom, parameter based reports and uploaded them to Crystal Enterprise. Our version of Crystal Enterprise allows for up to 5 concurrent users.

On the LS Home page, we created a link for the admins to use to get to the Enterprise module at . When they get there, eportfolio allows them to select one of the reports we have uploaded, and based on the custom reports we created, users are able to select a variety of parameters...including course number, user, date ranges, and reports based on profile information.

It took us a long time to realize that Crystal Reports with LS would not work directly, but the Crystal eportfolio solution is a viable alternative that works great.

Hope this helps someone.

has anyone solved the problem with crystal reports?
i am unable to modify a report with crystal reports 9 developer edition, when i did modify report file size drops dramatically (33k to 10K) and does not work. when i add a new report, also do not work.
have you applied for a support?
please reply to me if you achieved.

we have the same problem when developing a report with Crystal Reports 9.0. The reports that worked fine with Crystal Reports 8.0 doesn't work with the new version.

We still have no solution, so any help will be very appreciated.

Thanks a lot.

I believe the problem you are having is because LS5 ships with a viewer for Crystal v8.0. If you create reports in v9, they won't play through LearningSpace. Again, our fix was to use Crystal's e-Portfolio and its viewer engine. We just installed it on the server, put a link to the LS5 home page, and administrators can run custom reports against the DB.
