Hi!
I am really confussed about why lpstat hangs on one box and not on the other both are AIX5.1 servers, both have smilar entries I have tries everything I can find in this forum. What Aixqueen suggests. But still the lpstat -t hangs like so:
(/etc)> lpstat -t
Queue Dev Status Job Name From To
Submitted Rnk Pri Blks Cp PP %
------- ----- --------- --------- --- --- ----- --- ---- --
DUPPARK @198 READY

: (WARNING) 0781-375 Connection to server failed.
rembak: errno = 4: A system call received an interrupt.
DUPPARK DUPPA HOST_DOWN

/etc/qconfig
DUPPARKLASR01:
device = @198
up = TRUE
host = 198.176.173.238
s_statfilter = /usr/lib/lpd/aixshort
l_statfilter = /usr/lib/lpd/aixlong
rq = DUPPARKLASR01
@198:
backend = /usr/lib/lpd/rembak

Please help. :-(

I would suggest to remove the printq and create it again...

HI ogniemi,
I have done that even removing the qconfig.bin file.

1] Is the machine on which the lpstat command hangs on the same subnet as the other machine on which the lpstat command does not hang ?
2] Is the printer and the servers on differnt subnets
3] Does it hang for all user-ids
4] Look for any updates on bos.rte.printers

This is usually a sign that either the printer is not on, has no network connectivity, or does not accept lpr.

Hi texaix,
- Both machines are on the same subnet I can ping the ip address of the printer from both machines.
- Yes the printer is on a different subnet
- It hangs for root user, I havenot checked for other user id's
- All filesets are on the same level on all machines, now I have two machines that done hang when lpstat -p<printer name>, and so far two machines that hang one has ML5 and the other ML3. Two machines that work have ML4 and another that does not work has ML4. So I am still pulling my hair out.. not much left.. :))

sorry I ment "two machines that dont hang"... In fact it is three machines, one ML3, Ml4 and Ml5
