An lppchk -v on my two web boxen (one B50, one B80) shows the following error:
# lppchk -v
lppchk: The following filesets need to be installed or corrected to bring the system to a consistent state:
ifor_ls.client.base 5.0.0.0 (not installed; requisite fileset)
ifor_ls.client.gui 5.0.0.0 (not installed; requisite fileset)
The only version I have available is as follows:
ifor_ls.client ALL + 4.3.3.0 License Use Management Client GUI
+ 4.3.3.0 License Use Management Client Runtime
When I attempt to install this, I get the following output:
Requisite Failures
------------------
SELECTED FILESETS: The following is a list of filesets that you asked to install. They cannot be installed until all of their requisite filesets are also installed. See subsequent lists for details of requisites.
#1 ifor_ls.client.base 4.3.3.0 # License Use Management Clien...
#2 ifor_ls.client.gui 4.3.3.0 # License Use Management Clien...
MISSING REQUISITES: The following filesets are required by one or more of the selected filesets listed above. They are not currently installed and could not be found on the installation media.
(Selected filesets which depend upon these requisites are referenced in parentheses.)
ifor_ls.client.base 5.0.0.0 # Base Level Fileset
(dep #s: 1-2)
ifor_ls.client.gui 5.0.0.0 # Base Level Fileset
(dep #s: 1-2)
<< End of Failure Section >>
All I can find on the IBM site about this problem is the following:
IX78555: IFOR_LS.CLIENT.BASE FIXPAK PREREQUISIT FAILS ON AIX 4.3
Abstract
IFOR_LS.CLIENT.BASE FIXPAK PREREQUISIT FAILS ON AIX 4.3
Error description
Missing prerequisit ifor_ls_client.base.
Local fix
Re-install base level before installing fix.
Problem summary
Fixpak will now accept ifor_ls.base.cli as a
prerequisit.
Problem conclusion
unix install error corrected
Temporary fix
none
Circumvention
test install on AIX 4.3 before shipping
What is meant by "Re-install base level before installing fix"??? Since I've ALREADY installed the fix, thereby discovering the problem, are they suggesting I undo the entire 4.3.3.0 to 4.3.3.10 upgrade, or just the upgrade on this particular pair of files?
Sorry to ask so many questions today. Upgrading critical production servers is nervous-making enough without having odd things like this stepping in the way. Thanks again,
