An lppchk -v on my two web boxen (one B50, one B80) shows the following error:

# lppchk -v
lppchk: The following filesets need to be installed or corrected to bring the system to a consistent state:

ifor_ls.client.base 5.0.0.0 (not installed; requisite fileset)
ifor_ls.client.gui 5.0.0.0 (not installed; requisite fileset)

The only version I have available is as follows:

ifor_ls.client ALL + 4.3.3.0 License Use Management Client GUI
+ 4.3.3.0 License Use Management Client Runtime

When I attempt to install this, I get the following output:

Requisite Failures
------------------
SELECTED FILESETS: The following is a list of filesets that you asked to install. They cannot be installed until all of their requisite filesets are also installed. See subsequent lists for details of requisites.

#1 ifor_ls.client.base 4.3.3.0 # License Use Management Clien...
#2 ifor_ls.client.gui 4.3.3.0 # License Use Management Clien...

MISSING REQUISITES: The following filesets are required by one or more of the selected filesets listed above. They are not currently installed and could not be found on the installation media.
(Selected filesets which depend upon these requisites are referenced in parentheses.)

ifor_ls.client.base 5.0.0.0 # Base Level Fileset
(dep #s: 1-2)

ifor_ls.client.gui 5.0.0.0 # Base Level Fileset
(dep #s: 1-2)

All I can find on the IBM site about this problem is the following:

IX78555: IFOR_LS.CLIENT.BASE FIXPAK PREREQUISIT FAILS ON AIX 4.3

Abstract

IFOR_LS.CLIENT.BASE FIXPAK PREREQUISIT FAILS ON AIX 4.3
Error description
Missing prerequisit ifor_ls_client.base.

Local fix
Re-install base level before installing fix.

Problem summary
Fixpak will now accept ifor_ls.base.cli as a
prerequisit.

Problem conclusion
unix install error corrected

Temporary fix
none

Circumvention
test install on AIX 4.3 before shipping

What is meant by "Re-install base level before installing fix"??? Since I've ALREADY installed the fix, thereby discovering the problem, are they suggesting I undo the entire 4.3.3.0 to 4.3.3.10 upgrade, or just the upgrade on this particular pair of files?

Sorry to ask so many questions today. Upgrading critical production servers is nervous-making enough without having odd things like this stepping in the way. Thanks again,

iFOR is AIX user license management, I am not sure why it is reporting 5.0. Below is what you should have:

(x951)/etc#lslpp -L | grep ifor
bos.rte.ifor_ls 4.3.3.25 C iFOR/LS Libraries
ifor_ls.base.cli 4.3.3.25 C License Use Management Runtime
ifor_ls.client.base 4.3.3.0 C License Use Management Client
ifor_ls.client.gui 4.3.3.0 C License Use Management Client

Reinstall the gui and base filesets (4.3.3.0) using the force overwrite option on the smit screen. Then apply the correct fileset level for your ML.

Xitron,

are you running AIX 4.3.3? If you are, try to uninstall the 2 filesets:

ifor_ls.client.base 5.0.0.0 (not installed; requisite fileset)

ifor_ls.client.gui 5.0.0.0(not installed; requisite fileset)

try to test it first if it has a dependency filesets, by:

smit->s/w installation & maint->s/w main & utilities->
remove installed s/w, hit F4 to select the filesets and F7 to mark those filesets

remember to use the default, specially;
PREVIEW only? (remove operation will NOT occur) yes

so that it'll not be applied/committed right-away... but will give you the RESULTS - say, if it has depency.

if it doesn't have one... do it (remove it), this time change "YES" to "NO" for the Preview only option/paramter.

AIXPSadmin: I'm able to obtain the first 2 items using the link you gave me earlier that allows for individual package downloads (but the only options available on the last two items are versions 4.2.1.0 and 4.2.1.1.

Johny2001: That's part of the problem. There are NO versions of these two programs installed on my system.

Thanks for answering, folks!

You cannot download base level filesets, which are what the 4.3.3.0 filesets you need are. They are on the installation media, which is what you will have to use to do a force overwrite of those two filesets.

Xitron,

can u verify what oslevel u have right now?

type "oslevel" from the command prompt.
should give u something like this:

root pts/0 $ oslevel
4.2.1.0
root pts/0 $

johny2001: my oslevel is reading 4.3.3.0
