Hello All,
Just cloned an lpar using a mksysb and I have this output from the lppchk -v command :

lppchk: The following filesets need to be installed or corrected to bring the system to a consistent state:

devices.common.IBM.iscsi.rte 5.2.0.0 (not installed; requisite fileset)
devices.common.IBM.iscsi.rte 5.2.0.51 (usr: not installed, root: COMMITTED)

Current oslevel is 5300-04 and above filesets are at 5.3.0.0. I would like to tidy this up so that I can create a 'good' mksysb for my next installation but I am unable to see/do anything with these filesets using lslpp/smit etc.

any input most welcome
cheers
Benno

Do you have these filesets in the source lpar?

# lslpp -l | grep -i iscsi

I guess there might be different hardware issue between the two lpars!

I guess its the iscsi!

Regards,
Khalid

try lppchk -v -m3

this will show you a more verbose output from lppchk

thanks for the input so far. just tried to install the 2 filesets but they have been superseded so will not install. is there away to get around this ?

...it really does get worse than this !!

Don't quote me for this but if they were superseded do you still have to install them?
to me superseded means you have a later version of those packages! isn't it?

I agree but the lppchk command still comes up with them even though they are superseded. I'm being a bit fussy but what I want is a clean image to install again.

Do you need to have the iscsi driver fileset(s)?

Try removing (uninstall) these fileset(s).
If necessary, afterwards reinstall the iscsi driver.

HTH,

Tried to uninstall but it failed complaining that 5.2.0.30 level needs to be uninstalled !!
Think I'll leave alone, seems to be one of these never ending problems,
thanks

Have you tried a force re-install?

Also, perhaps "Cleanup after a failed installation" may help you.

HTH,

tried both but no good. think I will leave as is,
thanks for all your responses

The following should fix your problem:

# tar -cvf /tmp/odm.tar ./etc/objrepos ./usr/lib/objrepos
# odmdelete -q lpp_name=devices.common.IBM.iscsi.rte -o product
# lppchk –m3 –v (nothing should appear now)

Once you've done this you need to do a forced overwrite install of devices.common.IBM.iscsi.rte back to 5.3.0.0. Then smit update_all to bring fileset up to TL4

hope this helps!

.....worked a treat, got me clean image !!
many thanks
