Hi,

I have just installed and uninstalled an installshield install based product. An lppchk -v reveals that some packages that are part of install shield are still on my system with no files attached to them. How do I get them off my system so it returns to a consistent state.

lppchk -v

Have you tried "Cleanup after a failed installation" (it's somewhere in the smit install menus)

When trying to clean up after failed installs in smit I get:

503-439 installp: No filesets were found in the Software Vital
Product Database that could be cleaned up.

The only way to fix that is to manually pull that stuff out of the ODM. IBM has a procedure somewhere on their website for a bad version of websphere where the uninstaller did not clean everything up properly. I think it was Websphere 4.2.2 but I am not sure. Anyway, the procedure for cleaning the ODM would be similar. I would call IBM and ask about it.
