I have a local plotter connected to a AIX 4.3.3 WS and it used to work as a Printer server for another two clients.
The queue works fine in the ws which is connected to, but the lpd sevice is inoperative. The other spooler services are active but there is no way I can restart lpd service.I have stopped spooler group service and restart it and qdaemon and writesrv processes start but the lpd doesn't.
I have done it with smitty but get the same result.
¿Do you know how can restart it without reinstalling the operating system?

hi ,

have your tried startsrc -s lpd
lssrc -s lpd

if doesn't start

/usr/sbin/lpd &

ps -ef | grep lpd

what errors if any are reported when you try to start lpd
daemon.

Doing it as you say it gives me a process id and the process looks like it's running but doing a lssrc -s lpd the status of the process is inoperative.Thank you

if the process seems active but the lssrc -s lpd shows inopperative the only way is to kill this process ID and restart the lpd as normal using startsrc -s lpd .
or restart the machine.....

Thanks
latif
