Hi all!

We have met problem that EMC Symmetrix DMX 801 works too much slowly. Even more, second disk array, is connected to IBM p690, IBM FAStT 700, works in 2-3 times more faster.
We tested work with Oracle and with simple reading data on DMX and FAStT.
FAStT-700 speed 120MB/sec - 140 MB/sec
DMX-801 speed 20-40Mb/sec - the same as internal SCSI disk!!!!

Could anyone explain me what we must to do for improving performance of DMX?

Thanks
Yuri

Go with 64 bit Solaris I think that is the best if you are looking for performace...

Have DMX running sybase on 15K with Solari 8 no issues.

Thank you for advice. But I have problem with DMX, not with AIX.
Can you give recomendation about configuration of DMX?

How are you connected? Are you using fibre? Do you have the EMC recommended drivers and Firmware on the HBA's?

How are the DMX disks setup? RAID1, RAIDS?

We are use 4 fiber-channel adapters Emulex LP9802. It is standard adapters for IBM pSeries and RS/6000.
We tried to use RAID0, RAID5 and RAID1.

What is the stripe element size for each LUN. Install HBAnywhere and fine tune the parameters.
