Not sure what I can do about this. We had a Mics and 2.0 Software, and 1-CI card. Recently changed CI card to the global CI card (to fix a static noise in the background). With the new card installed, people on the other end of the line can't hear us very well. The volume is much too low. I've tried different setting with LossPkg but it doesn't seem to affect anything. Do I need to reboot for those changes to take effect? I've called our phone supplier and had the volume boosted but it's still too low.
What's my next step?
Thanks, Kev

confused... how did they boost volume...anyway make sure sys volume is set to "set" not "system" other than that try another slot in ksu to make sure its the card not the ksu then try another card if your trouble shooting finds it is card

ONLY 17 WEEKS TILL SKI SEASON STARTS

Also make sure the DIP switches are set correctly for the country you're in.

Unfortunately volume is an issue with global line cards

when your gain settings are HIGH, you get static in the background ...try using the old card again and set it to "near CO"

no reboot is required, but if you can ..do a reboot

also play with the set volume as luv2ski says ..

This sounds like a good idea, how can I get the dip switch settings for this particular card?

It's all off for US. It's also printed right on the card.

It's all off for Canada too... Merc Ottawa.

We just had this same issue on a CICS 6.1. Replaced the T-series w/M-series and the customer was satisfied. We had tried all the above mentioned items.

thread799-906515 hoping this will post as a link...

The lossPkg needs to be set on each line. Maybe you need to boost yours instead of going with shortCO try longCO.

Do you get feedback of your own voice in the earpiece? It's normal to hear yourself a little, but we were getting it so bad it was cutting out the caller.

LossPkg fixed our problem. We also made it go away on another custoemr by using non-global line cards.

We got another call today from a different customer about the same low volume issue on a CICS 6.1 w/T-series phones. We'll try changing the LossPkg as you suggested.
Thanks

I have had several problems with low volume complaints on various CICS systems. I have switched out handsets, used radio shack boosters (that's professional,) used Algo handsets, and played with losspckg . Nortel needs to do something about the volume issues, not to mention the static/ crackling that is inherent on the systems when you turn up the volume.

I just opened a case with ITAS. If we get a solution I will post it.

I'm no longer recommending T series phones to my customers until they solve there volume and tunnel sound issues. I'll stick to M series for now.

I have a customer with t series sets (4 close together) and I've heard nothing but complaints about quality of calls ...can't hear etc.Changed some sets to M type...still complaining. It's a CICs 6.0
There used to be in the old days a confidencer that would eliminate room noise ...can anyone recommend something similar today?...push to talk handset? ... Losing faith in the T series.

ITAS said to try ShortCO and/or LongCO in the losspkg but that didn't work, different trunk card, no change and turning on dip switches 5 & 7, no change. Apparently the dip switch change "has worked" for some other customers. Again they are also at a loss over the volume loss. Should be hearing from them today.

First level support had us to change dipswitches 5&7 to on and LossPkg to LongPBX-DIDN'T WORK. Changed to ShortPBX, worked! VOLUME got better, not the best, but better. Tried ShortPBX w/all switches off (like it short be for US) and it stayed at the "improved" volume level.

Thanks for the update DueE- I will have to try that. Low volume is a common complaint from my customers.

One other thing- I had one customer that was really screaming about low volume. I changed out the factory handsets to some refurbed I had purchased for back ups. For whatever reason, the refurbed handsets had better volume, and I have not heard from them since (of course they may have torn out the CICS and put in a partner for all I know [flip] )
