I am running Win NT Server with 196megs of mem and 2.5 gig hdrive and a 13 gig hdrive and i got the following error about every 12-24 hours. I am currently running only 3 applications on this machine and right now i am running pmon from the resource kit and i have had as high as 304 page faults. The error i have been getting is below.

Application popup: System Process - Out of Virtual Memory : Your system is running low on virtual memory. Please close some applications. You can then start the System option in the Control Panel and choose the Virtual Memory button to create an additional paging file or to increase the size of your current paging file.

The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck. The bugcheck was: 0x0000000a (0x506e6576, 0x00000002, 0x00000000, 0xf4c355ff). Microsoft Windows NT [v15.1381]. A dump was saved in: C:\WINNT\MEMORY.DMP

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You mention you have 2 HDD's. I am assuming your original HDD is the 2.5GB which is
where the O/S is probably installed. It may be low on space.

If you've left the pagefile at the default settings, Windows will be trying to manage it dynamically - appending data to the end of the disk. If there is no free space at the end of the disk, then these issues can occur.

My solution (I feel an FAQ coming on!) is to fix the size of the swapfile. That way, even if the disk is low on space, you've already reserved enough for virtual memory.

Hope this helps :)

Ok, thanks guys for the help, I had 2 page files 1 on each drive but i changed it to my 13gig drive which is my second drive and removed it from my 2.5gig drive so there is no pagefile on the partition on the drive where windows is installed. What is weird the i am still getting the error. i have 12gigs of free space on the 13gig drive

the Server ran for 2 days and just shutdown and rebooted any ideas? to bad there is no way to automatically reboot the system and have it automatically login.

Check your Registry settings. I always double the current settings to get the maximum setting.
