Love UNIX sysadmin work, tired of on-call.

I have enjoyed UNIX sysadmin work for 7 years now. I have been a contract employee for most of those years, usually including on-call responsibilities. I am ready to move into a new position and leave my current position that requires a 15 minute response time, where I am on-call every other week. My plan is to shift my career to companies that don't operate 24 hours-a-day. In which industries should I be searching?

My experience is mostly with the Gas Industry, and also manufacturing. What is it like for UNIX sysadmins and on-call requirements in other industries? Any ideas?

Pretty much any large company with a Web presence is a 24/7 operation now. At least for order taking. My only guess is that you would have to find a company so large that it could afford to staff up to the point where some sysadmins could be assigned purely to internal non-critical systems that could afford to stay down until morning.

I haven't lost my mind - I know it's backed up on tape somewhere ....

i suggest if you have a collage degree (working in the mospital world) like for philips medical(recently acl and agelint tech)this is a good place to work and i enjoy it.

Thanks MasterRacker and Fishey,
I suppose that most companies do run on 24/7 schedule for critical systems and therefore need on-call personnel to react to problems promptly. I am looking at teaching opportunities and contracts in an advisory role.
I appreciate your input.
