Ok this one is tough. I have a customer with a 38 ext Partner R7 system. They are configured to use simulataneous page on all exts as their old Panasonic system would. They page through the speaker on idle phones. Feedback began almost immediately upon installation. When the "all page" button is pressed and the handset is lifted horrible feedback throughout the system. Using the speakerphone only, picking up intercom and pressing the button - neither helped. The offices with more than 1 phone were really, really bad about it. In the end and after months of troubleshooting I decided to install an external paging system for free just to make them happy. Picked up a Viking PA-30 Paging amp and several 1 watt Bogen EZ speakers. Installed the amp, configured the page port and installed 1 speaker and began testing. The feedback was STILL there! As soon as you press the page button and lift the handset, horrible feedback. The Viking was maxed trying to get the speakers loud enough for their liking and I noticed if you turned it down to about 75% no feedback and everything worked great...just it wasn't loud enough. The speaker is in the hall about 10 feet from the first phone, that has feedback. I installed a larger amp and turned the gain down, paging was louder, but so was the feedback. I came back to my office and installed everything on my R6 and put the speaker right next to the ext and it did the exact same thing of course. So my question is, how the hell do you fix this problem? I can't even install speakers in the ceiling without it continuing to feedback? Is this a normal problem? Nature of the beast? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

viking digital feedback elminator ?

works great you page it stores the page you hang up it makes the page.

you say all page button what happens with intercom *70 ?

I would disconnect the external page , and unplug phoones in groups to try to isolate .

take all the phones off the processor and try , still feedback ? plug them back in then unplug all from the first 308 ect . once you isolate it to one module plug the ext in a couple at a time untill you find which ext are causing it , then you can work from there .

Is there any way to increase the distance between the hallway speaker and the telephone that is currently 10' away?

if you pick up any ext (even the trouble makers) and hit intercom *70 everything works great it's really just the button push and handset lift that causes the problem. I thought about switching them to intercom dialtone first instead of outside line so they could pick up the handset and then hit the page button. that works fine. anybody remember how to do that?

and no, really the speakers need to be closer inside the offices so everyone can hear. i looked at the digital feedback eliminator last week and it may indeed be the answer. i'm just curious if this is a symptom of this system alone.
