lotus memo to access

what is the best way to transfer a lotus DB to be imported into ms access. I exported all the data from lotus but it makes 3 files. it seems all the memo data goes into a dbt file and i cant open it with access.
help me.

The field is in the .dbf file but for a memo field, the dbf just contains a pointer to the data which is stored in the .dbt file. Therefore you only have to open the dbf to get all the data.

Note that when exporting from Approach there are numerous file formats available for selection. You could have used delimited text for example.

If you're still having problems getting data from the dbf in Access, post a question in an Access forum about dBase IV format. Approach exports in standard dBase IV format and beyond that it's an Access issue.

i exported from lotus and all the data is there but all the data from the memo filed is blank.
what should i do. it has nothing to do with access. anyone have any ideas?

When you open it in which application?

Do you mean you open the Approach (.apr) file, the data is fine, you export from Approach and then open the exported dbf in Approach and the data is missing from the memo field?

Or do you mean when you open it in Access the data is missing?

when i export the data from apporach i get everything but the memo data. the memo field is all blank but all the other fields are ok. i dont get it.
but i can see the memo data in the dbf file and i wont import.

I can't help you without a clear explanation of the circumstances in which the data is missing. I'm still not clear if it's only missing when you open the dbf in Access.

Can you open the exported dbf in Approach (by selecting file type dBase IV) and see the data in the memo field?

And have you tried my other suggestion to export as delimited text?
