When I try to open a file in Lotus 123 97 (SmartSuite 97) in Windows XP, it gives an error message, "DDE Server Window:123w.exe No Disk in A". I have also gotten, "DLGQue Window: No Disk in A".

It is apparently looking for a file on a disk in drive A, which I don't have. If I insert a blank disk it looks, doesn't find it and everything continues OK. I do not want to have to leave a blank disk in drive A.

Word Pro and Approach do not have this problem.

I have a new computer and am moving my programs/files over. Did not have this problem with Win 95.

Any ideas?

Upgrade to the latest version of the Lotus software suite, or simply wordpro. That's about the only option. When upgrading MS operating systems, you should always check the software compatibility pages at MS. XP is a full 3/4 OS versions higher than 95, so it is unlikely that SmartSuite 97 is going to behave well in it.

There do seem to be a few little compatability problems with Lotus and XP. Entering dates in a spreadsheet does not work unless you enter the 4-digit year. Also, if you place fine (thin) lines on your spreadsheet to separate areas; they will not print. Would appreciate any assistance out there that can solve these problems.

ps...the fine line printing problem can be solved by saving a Lotus spreadsheet as an EXCEL (.xls) file and printing from Excel...(what a hassel that is but it works).

I use 123 ver 2.2 I upgraded to XP, now I can,t get a full screen of 123. Can someone help me. Thanx.

When selecting design view on an Aproach file (SmartSuite 97), I am prompted with a password. I do not not have the password and I need to make some changes. What can I do?

Was this ever resolved for you? I am having this same problem today, installing SmartSuite 97 on XP. Installation finishes, but cannot open files without having a diskette in.
Thanks

I think you can get newer versions prettly inexpensively on ebay.

I use smartsuite 97 on WinXP and have yet to have any problems some of you are experiencing! everything is working great

I have not yet moved Smartsuite 97 to xp, but it is running fine on Windows 2000. I have heard that setting the xp desktop and taskbar to "Windows Classic" mode will sometimes resolve compatability issues with older applications. I would give it a try. I also tend to custom install Smartsuite 97 and then not install that funny suite overlay that installs by default.
