Lost Windows XP Personal Settings

For some reason, I lost my personal settings, this is my desktop changed all its content. My question is How Can I recover my previous desktop settings.

Thanks for you help...

Are you logged on as the same user as before? did someone create another user? what part has it changed? icons? quick launch bar? is this your home pc?

I am connected to a Windows 2000 server and logged on with the same user. Some icons dissapeared, as well as the desktop appearance, screen saver, everything.

Check with your IT Admin, you guys might have a gpo policy in effect.
