and then you can get to a site to download Sidekick98 and the user manual it's a big download (9Mb) so use Gozilla or some other download manager so you can resume a broken download.
Also download the year 2000 Patch and read all the instructions for applying it also checkout the link which shows how to correct SDK98 so it saves ToDo's and Goals.

Hi this is my first time in the forum, I need help with sidekick 95. Having replaced my complete system to new one with XP I copied all my old relevant folders onto cd including Sidekick95 with all data. I have lost the old Sidekick 95 cd but have Sidekick 98 cd which loads on fine but I cant seem to get my old date over into the new programme. I have tried the Import Data etc but it does not locate the old files using the browse/open method etc. If I double click on the old sidekick Icon that I have saved to disk it just comes up with a message saying 'You have changed your Sidekick Registry Information, please specify the data directory of Sidekick' and in the white box it indicats a partial directory of - ?\DATA\ . I have tried everything I can think off to recover my old addresses. Can anybody help please.
Dear Heavyend81,
Just go FILE|OPEN in sidekick98 and when the dialog box comes up you should be able to navigate to the disc you have the data on and then just open any cardfile.
The Sidekick icon you are double-clicking on appears to be the program icon and it is looking for the \DATA directory, if you right-click on the icon and then select properties you should see that it is a Program(.Exe) file.
All your Cardfiles should be saved as .SKCard files and should be in the Userdata Folder which is in the root directory of Sidekick95 together with Templates and program etc.
If you can't get to them, list the folders on the CD so that we can see if you have them all...(I hope so)!
Assuming you do you will also have to reset the attributes from Read Only.
Hello. Im new to the forum. I had Sidekick 95 but my system crashed and I dont have it anymore. I bought the Sony Vaio with Windows XP but cant find Sidekick. I notice that some of the posts say that you can click a link to download Sidekick 98 but it doesnt work. Can anybody tell me about the site that has the software?
Dear Shugaray,
You can go to FAQ1a and get all the links to download both the programme (and the Patch that corrects Year2000 problems before you put any Data in the programme)
I checked the links today 2002/01/05 and they work but they are on an ftp site so just opt to save them to disc and they will download.
Then go to the page that explains how to install the Patch,
After reading that go to the Discontinued Products Support page and then click on the Find Answers Link in the LH FRAME
and enter JUST Sidekick98 in the top Text box.
Then if you are using IE5+ save the question page in favourites and Tick the View offline and use the Advanced button to specify that you wish to save linked pages 1 deep below that page and then you have an easy reference for the future of all the FAQ's In Netscape (or other) use a similar technique.
I believe/hope Sidekick98 does work OK in XP, though see thread:807-169169 as 'we' have not had much input from people who are using them both.

p.s.Is the second name Robinson?
Thanks Jim. I only have one more question. I dont have a copy of Sidekick at all and I noticed this is an update. Is there somewhere I can get the full version ?
P.S. My last name is Ray. Some of my college buddies added the Shuga to it. LOL
Dear Shugaray,
Sidekick2 Internet Sidekick and Sidekick98 were all released on Magazine covers within the last 3 years as free copies, the problem is finding them...
Buczacz did say at some point that he was getting offers through Ebay
To quote him:Why not just buy Copy of Sidekick 99 from e-bay for $10 - $20?
It would be worth entering Sidekick95 or Sidekick98 in their Search engine and see what it comes up with. I'll keep looking and post back if I find one so mark this thread for email notification
