I recently downloaded an update that installed windows live essentials and after that I opened my outlook 2007 and my personal folder .pst was gone not hidden gone. I am running Vista home.
Yes I have searched all my drives with different key words just in case, I also tried a undelete program and it found something like .pst.tmp but not near the size of my folder only like 65k.
I would say, go back to a restore point on your PC before you installed Live essentials.
If that does not work, I would use a boot CD like Hirens boot CD or an ubuntu live CD, boot from it, and start searching your C:\ Drive for PST files that are hidden inside your profile somewhere.
Just an FYI that the PST file would not be archived by System Restore. So reverting back to a prior restore point wouldn't make any difference.
Ernie,
Not sure how much luck you're gonna have finding it, but for future reference, consider making your own backups using 3rd-party tools like Acronis True Image or Norton's GoBack, especially before installing new applications or software updates.
