I bought a used unit off ebay and they had changed default IP so I reset the unit not knowing that it would clear the licenses. Can someone help me recover the licenses. I will buy you a few beers :) The serial is 1365367148 plsid 111365367148

One other question, can the sd car be put into another unit and keep the licensing associated with the sd card? I always like to have spare hardware in case of outage and didn't know if I could use same licensing. Thanks

How did you reset? The licenses are stored in the config file (up to 9.1) that you will find hopefully on the SD card in the Backup folder or there is a PLDSKeys.xml file on the card.

It's possible to put the card with its licenses into another chassis as long as you don't have any virtual licenses.

IP Office remote service
IP Office certificate check
CLI based call blocking
SCN fallback over PSTN

Hey @barkster
You’re absolutely sure it had licenses in the first place? I know it’s a silly question but I only ask because so many IPO chassis on eBay just come out with R7 which was the last release that allowed basic use without any licenses. What Release are you running?

Thanks, Tim

Also keep in mind that you really can't sell this SD card if there was previous licensing on it. Your customer would not be able to purchase additional licensing which at some point they are most likely going to want to do. They are also stuck on whatever release the control unit is locked into.

The truth is just an excuse for lack of imagination.

sorry wasn't getting notifications for some reason. I am really not sure if it had licenses, it is on 9.1 and just assumed it had some form of licenses on it, they say it was from a working environment but of course they say they couldn't test. I took sd card out and looked for any key code file, .cfg file and xml files and really didn't see anything. I was told by one dealer that if it had keycodes on it that he would be able to get it transferred to me if we upgraded the licenses which I guess essentially means buying new licenses. I was just hoping it would have been able to mess with it in some form or fashion, I knew the 9.1 license was older but beats my old bcm 400.

PS: I reset it by holding down reset button till the cpu light started blinking

Here's a real long shot for you. Put the SD card into a computer and look in /system/backup/ for the config.cfg and PLDSkeys.xml. the config.cfg in the backup might still have the keys in it. I doubt it has PLDS licensing. The problem is it does the backup every night, so it's probably already overwritten it with a config missing the licenses.

Yes I think you are correct, I looked in backup folder and got config and there were 4 inside config but nothing that did anything or meant anything. I guess I am screwed. I thought I read a few posts on the forum that people could look up the licenses by the serial. How can I get some trial licenses to just get me going so I can mess with it. I want to test it before I commit. Thanks

ADI is super dead from what I understand. My understanding is the only way Avaya will help a BP with ADI now is if we are doing a paid upgrade and the licenses are not available. E.g. the SD card died and we have no way to pull the required upgrade file.

You could deploy a demo server edition and link the IP500 to that. That would give you some demo licensing on the IP500. It would technically be server edition at that point, but the IP500 functionality is pretty much identical. You just couldn't use embedded voicemail.

If you open any of the .cfg files in Manager, so you see any licenses? ADI licenses are held in the configuration, PLDS licenses are held in an .xml file called PLDSkeys.xml

I question that statement. If the licenses were purchased in another companies name you will NOT be able to transfer them to you unless you can prove that company went out of business (you need proper documentation).

The truth is just an excuse for lack of imagination.

that's crazy but sounds about right. Thanks for the info here

Just to clarify @barkster did you manage to recover anything? No backup config (cfg) file or the other files described above?

Thanks, Tim

the .cfg in the backup folder of sd card didn't have anything

@barkster Really sorry to hear that. I know it's a long shot but have you considered contacting who you purchased it from via eBay to see if they happened to have a backup of their configuration file so you can extract the licences from there? They may even have kept the excel license files on a backup. As I said - a long shot but you might get lucky?

Thanks, Tim

I contacted before I bought and he didn't even know how to get into it supposedly. I think i screwed up by resetting it and leaving it on for a few days. No biggie. Thanks for all the help

You could try a utility to recover deleted files but I suspect they are overwritten and not deleted.

Not tried this myself so I can be corrected, but if you don't have licences it can be downgraded to basic mode (which is very restricted and known as muppet mode here.

Anyway you can only get licences for R10 and 11 now.

You can still recover ADI licenses, at least...I know I can.

I used to be an ACE. Now I'm just an Arse.

I was able to get the licenses for that serial...if you need them.

It might be time for an FAQ on licenses as this questions pops up from time to time.

Yeah I would love to get the licenses, I'm and dead in water. What do you need from me? Thanks
