I have an Option 11 with 200 lines down, it says crc32-error can't load operating system. I got an operating system on a PCMCIA card and I can load that and it will let me do a restore on our DB on the Z drive and is says restore sucessful. But then when I reboot the switch it still fail same error. If I try to load the operating system I have on the PCMCIA card it wants three sets of keycodes and I don't have them, never did have them and Verizon won't talk to us because we don't have a $20K maint agreement with them for this switch and they won't even tell me if they have the right codes if we did sign the contract. Is there any way anybody knows of finding the codes or should I start looking for a new system. It's release 22.16+ and that is what is on the PCMCIA card. Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Did you choose the right:
Feature Set=Enterprise Business (NTSK11EB)
Additional Packages=22

during the software-load?
Belive those need to be right, for the keycodes to match.

That might be it - when I choose Enterprise I didn't tell it 22 additional packages - I'm off to try it again - I'll let you know

It's only dialtone-VZ

Well if I take the default list of additional packages when I get to the final "is this correct" it shows Additional Packages: None. I've tried just answering yes to everything - still shows none, if I type in all the packages manually it takes them all but when I reach "is this correct" only the first line of typed in numbers will appear? Any ideas?

NAB :)

That was it! I was putting in all the packages and all I had to do was tell it 22 packages - we're loading now it looks like it's going to come up - thanks all i'll give everyone a final update when we back in service :)

NAB :)

you should only need to type in next to
Additional Packages 22

I believe 22 is DISA which you might not use anyway

It's only dialtone-VZ

Well we're up and shipping dialtone again - but I can't log in regarless of what i do i get "TTY 00 SCH MTC BUG so I can't get to LD 143 to restore our database

NAB :)

OK we're up and running - got the config to restore and everything is up inside - still can't get anything inbound because I think the ISDN Pri is locked out somewhow inside Verizon, my 4 backup dial tones are letting me get calls out again but nothing working i9nbound from Verizon - I'm off to see if it's on a high and dry list or something or if we've lost the D-Channel or something? THANK YOU ALL for your help. I have some full motion sound included video of a running No. 1 Xbar and a No. 5 Xbar switch soon as I get a chance I will post a good clip of it up on You Tube and post the link here for the phone phreaks amoungst you all - if you've never seen any of the big old crossbar machines running they were something to see and hear and I know know of anywhere else you can see any video of those old machines - it's stuff I shot back in '86 just before they cut the last of the crossbars out.

LD 60
STAT (for status for PRI's)
and
LCNT (for transmission-errors)
reset counters with RCNT

LD 96
STAT DCH (for D-channel status)
DIS DCH x folowed by
ENL DCH x
to restart channel x

Still no inbound or outbound on the ISDN Pri all channels 01 thru 23 show:

CH ## - MBSY DID VOD *

Ch 24 3DCH

Looks like the d-channel is up OK, but all the B channels are all made busy somewhere - I tried all the disables and enables on the loop - no help. Verizon called they say the circuit is up and in service. I think the pilot# and the DID's have all been made busy inside Verizon's switch somewhere but they don't see any trouble on the ISDN PRI circuit. I don't think I'm talking to the switchroom guys I think I'm talking to the private line board guys that just test the circuit.

NAB :)

Well I saw Verizon go into the circuit now is all channels show "disabled" instead of MBSY - looks they are at least looking at the right circuit now - if they will just enable it and take the make busy off I think we'll be back - on knees praying now.

NAB :)

Disable yours in 60 then disable the DCH in 96, go back to 60 and enable the T1. DCH should come back up on it's own.

Verizon said they tested everything and it all looked OK, they came out and replaced a board in the NIU/Loopback box and 10 minutes later everything magically cleared and the B-Channel card went all green. I enabled all my B's one at a time and we are now 100% golden again except for a couple single tn's that are hung and I got most of them enabled. I can't thank you all enough for helping out an old No. 1 Xbar switchman get this thing up again. I'll be posting a link to a special video up on You Tube soon as I can, if you've never seen an old electro-mechanical switch running you're in for a treat. Might take me a day or two to get it cut and uploaded so watch for it.

I was on the crew that removed the last Step by Step switch in New York City in 1971

Worked in a few of those over the years - was a switchman on a cutover of a 33,000 line stepper in Fresno back in about '79-'80 those were some impressive machines during a busy hour. I'm still working on the video clip of the crossbar machine hope to get it up today or tomorrow - stay tuned if you haven't seen one of those old machines in a while it will bring back memories. I've shown the full video to young guys that never got to see any of the old EM machines running and their jaws just kind of drop open. They say stuff like where's the disk drives? Or what do all those flashing lights mean?

Funny... I was trained on Stroeger & X/Y Step by Step switches many years ago in the Air Force. Also worked on an old Siemens RP-40 stepper. Lots of fun!!!
