I have an Option 11 with 200 lines down, it says crc32-error can't load operating system. I got an operating system on a PCMCIA card and I can load that and it will let me do a restore on our DB on the Z drive and is says restore sucessful. But then when I reboot the switch it still fail same error. If I try to load the operating system I have on the PCMCIA card it wants three sets of keycodes and I don't have them, never did have them and Verizon won't talk to us because we don't have a $20K maint agreement with them for this switch and they won't even tell me if they have the right codes if we did sign the contract. Is there any way anybody knows of finding the codes or should I start looking for a new system. It's release 22.16+ and that is what is on the PCMCIA card. Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

if you have the rtu that system. ie you bought it from a vendor not ebay, then the nortel website your and site id will get you a copy of the keycodes.. without those it's a boat anchor

I've got something called a SW CART ID on the switch front - I don't see any Site ID. Verizon put it in back in '94 so it's not an eBay or pirate switch. I tried talking to Nortel but all they will do is refer me to some "find a partner" link on their website. Do I have to be a Nortel partner to look up key codes or can I be just an owner? It may not matter much longer because if I don't get dial tone to the payroll lady nobody will get paid this week and I'll be lynched by an angry mob Friday afternoon.

you are right, i assume we all have access to that link. you do need a partner to download those keycodes.. call one, not verison if they don't offer repair without a long term contract. there are others that will do work on an as needed basis..

Any good vendor can get that info for you on a T&M basis (time and material). You should even be able to get Verizon to do it without the maintenance agreement on T&M.

Thanks much guys - no luck getting them yet and Verizon won't talk to us about the switch they won't even respond to the repair ticket I issued on the pilot #. I've found a Nortel partner that says he will try and get them for me so I gave him the Nortel # on the dongle and we're hoping he can download - fingers crossed.

I have access to NORTEL for keycodes BUT unless you are the vendor of record, you cannot see the keycodes, just the information about the switch (SLT)

The vendor that put the switch in was Verizon, but since we don't have a signed maint agrrement with them they won't even respond to repair requests or T & M requests. Can you tell from your information who shows as the vendor of record is it Verizon? First they went by Continental Tel in those days then I think they were known as GTE then finally Verizon. There is also an outside vendor they used many years ago by the name of Volcano Tel. so they might have don't the 22.16 release upgrade and that's why there's no tags of the switch with the 22.16 codes.

I've got something labled a Security ID: 10018090 and then I have something called a S/W Cart ID: 933822 but I don't have anything labeled S/N is that inside on one of the boards or something or is that the number engraved on the dongle?

The system is ten years old. Looks like Oct of 97. I dont know how to contact you but I can help possibly if there is a way to talk.

Not sure if they still have it but Nortel use to have an 800# to report problems that you maybe having with one of there Vendors. I had an Option 61C about 11 years ago that I tried to get help on from "WillTell" and because I was self maintained they also gave me the run around. Well I called Nortel and told them what was going on and guess what I got a call from WillTell a day later and a Tech on site the next day. Sad part about all of this is if it does not come up with the Keycodes you will have to upgrade the system because Rls 22 is not supported anymore.

That looks like it - and Oct '97 is about the time they would have done the upgrade to 22.16 it was 3 years before I got here - I have a single 1mb line hooked up 775-783-9355 call me and give me your number and I'll call you back so you don't have to pay the toll.

nabisho.....talk about sweating one out here. Bet your happy to get those codes!!

no go - could it be because I don't have the original flash card that came with the release and I'm trying to use a 22.16 flash card I got aftermarket? This card will let me restore my data from the Z drive but it looks like it won't take my keycodes.

NAB :)

22.16 software should be unzipped
Try using a new pcmia (do not format the PCMIA )
If you have the current backup try doing a new install from PCMIA and load your database

good luck
