I've lost the key to my copy of PB 2000. Is there any way to recreate it?

There's no way to "recreate" a Microsoft product key legally. Most Microsoft products bear the warning "Don't Lose This Number!" on the back of the jewel case for that reason. If it's lost your only recourse is to buy a new copy. I usually take a permanent ink marker and write it on the label of my CD's just in case the jewel case with the number on it gets lost.
You might try using regedit to snoop around in the registry if you haven't uninstalled the program, the key might still be stored there somewhere.
