Hey guys,

I got an old 3com SuperStack II 1000 24-ports switch of my work but I have a hard problem. Nobody knows what the things IP address was set to and I don't know or have a cable to connect to the console via the serial port.
I know its Mac address but thats all.
Is there a tool I can run from either a windows or linux computer connected to the switch to discover its ip address and netmask?

You could hard-code an ARP entry on your PC and then attempt to telnet to it, although I am not sure if it will work:

arp -s 157.55.85.212 00-aa-00-62-c6-09

You will need the passwords as well I assume?

HTH

thx for the help but in the mean time i already made myself a null cable and got everything to work.

Your way could come in handy for other situations so thx.
