My terminal rebooted. When it come back ON. I tried the set of login/password documented by the former admin. But it did not work.

Can anyone help. I have tried all neccesary combinations but it would not work. Is there a way to break the password?

Thanks in advance.

Call Avaya. They will prob charge you $ for it. You can try the system accounts such as dadmin, craft, etc. if you know the passwords.

Did you ever test the passwords you were given by the previous admin or have you been relying on cached passwords or never had to login before? What I'm getting at is this a function of a bad set of passwords , or a malfunction of the system? Are you under an Avaya maintenance agreement?

mmcalli,

I did not have the opportunity to test the passwords. Had it been I tested them, I would have been in a more difficult situation by now.

My Definity system is currently ON and working. Apart from the fact that, I can't login and administer the system, every other thing is working fine. Our phone system is also working fine. What really happened was a reset of the power connection to the terminal not even the Definity system.

I know the default passwords for craft and dadmin and I really do not want to use them because, I understand that they will not enable the licenses that I currently have and such my phone systems might not work.

I really do not know if we have a maintenance agreement with Avaya. What difference with that make? Will they reset the password free? Suggestions are welcomed.

Thanks.

If you have an maintenance agreement in force, they would likely reset your CUST level password for free- after making you prove who you are, since your old admin would probably be listed as the contact. What is the history of this system? Did your company buy it new? Directly from Avaya or a partner or as part of a building you bought? Are you unable or unwilling to get in touch with the old admin--who would be your best source of info on where to go from here. Unless the phones are not critical to your business, you don't want to wait until there is a problem to sort this out--otherwise you could be loosing lots of $$$ per day in lost productivity.

mmcalli is right. Do you know your FL/IL/Customer Number? Do you have a billing statement from Avaya? Call Avaya, 1-800-242-2121, and see what you have for maintenance. If you have at least 8-5, they shouldn't charge you to reset your 'cust' password. If you dealt with Avaya directly for your switch, you should have an Account Rep, now known as a Client Exec. They should be able to help you to get the customer contact info changed. BTW, loging in with craft or dadmin won't harm anything. You might not be able to because of an ASG challenge. The licenese file will keep you from making any money changes.
FYI: flip the keyboard over. you might find the password on it.;)

You are all right.

I called Avaya, we do not have any maintenance agreement with them. Yes its a new switch bought from and installed by Avaya. From what I learnt, we use to have a maintenance agreement with them, but the stuff have since expire and no one saw the need o renew it. I have my FL/IL numbers and will be sending them an authorization to reset the customer password today on my company's letterhead.

It will cost my company $200.00, however if they was a maintenance agreement, it will cost just $84.00.

IMHO: Someone is on staff at avaya just to 'reset' passwords. What a world of chaos it would have been, if I had to contact Cisco, Microsoft, 3com,IBM, Dell, Compaq, Motorola, Panasonic, etc each time I want to reset my passwords and even pay some fees.

Thanks all.

You can log on with craft and reset your cust password.

Hi Steveave,

Yes, but 'craft' is Avaya's login and 'dadmin' is Avaya Partiner's login.

I had Avaya on the phone and asked them why they changed both passwords from their respective defaults. The lady said, it belongs to them and I have right only over the customer login and not the 'craft' non the 'dadamin' logins.

So, I paid them $200.00 just to reset the password. After that, I login and created other accounts and give them superuser access, these will serve as a safety nets.

Thanks.
