Hi folks!

Interestingly enough but I discovered a strange behaviour of ArcServe server connecting to an Agent installed on Fedora Core 6 and CentOS 5. After adding a Machine/object to the list of Unix/Linux Systems I enter users credentials to connect to the Agent and got this error message:

Lost connection with HOST_NAME (x.x.x.x)
Do you want to reconnect?

Retrying doesn't work. Could it be a new security feature with 2.6.18 kernel used by FC6 and CentOS5 ? It doesn't happen with CentOS4.4.
My server version is r11.5 SP2, the Agent is r11.5 SP1

Sincerely and hopefully
Eugene

rem out the line “ LD_ASSUME_KERNEL “ in the /opt/CA/BABcmagt/agent.cfg file

Officially not supported but does work on several newer OS version of Linux

No, man.

It doesn't work. I thought it would save my ass. Same message: Lost connection. I think I will try to recompile the kernel and make it 2.6.16 not 2.6.18 like it is shipped with CentOS5

1 make sure he recycled “caagent disable all” caagent enable all”
2 test without firewall…
3 ports need to be open 6050 tcp/udp and 41523/41524 udp

Still no.
The caagent was restarted both ways, "service bab_agent restart" and the way you mentioned. Firewall is disabled by flushing all iptables.
These are ports that are open:

tcp 0 0 0.0.0.0:6051 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN
udp 0 0 0.0.0.0:41524 0.0.0.0:*

Hey Davidmichel, you know, it works, I just reinstalled the agent and was able to connect to it.

Now more to follow :)
Same problem with FreeBSD. But what matters there's nothing about the kernel in the agent.cfg file. And most important, after every connection attempts from the BAB server I have cabr.core at the FreeBSD box.
