I just set up a brand new HP with Win2K. I set up a user and she is able to log in, but when she tries to log in as Administrator to load software, it says that the password is wrong. I am 110% positive that I left the password field blank for the Admin account. Is there another default password Win2K would assign? Is it more worth my while to re-install Windows (since it is a new machine and thier is no data) rather than trying to reset the password using boot disks and changing the .sam file?
Any and all help is always greatly appreciated!

well, actually win200 will not assign any default password so i am sure there was something wrong while installing or after installing your win2000, ô¿ô Kishore

did u try a space for the password, as i did the same thing a while ago and remembered that i might've hit space by accident. Wheni tried that it worked and i felt silly.

If someone can help me...

I have Windows 2000 Pro and I tried to connect two computers to share files through the network. However, I rebooted the computer in the process and when the computer restarted I got a log-on screen with Administrator. I only have the administrator account, and I never set a password to it. Now I cannot access my computer at all. Is there anyway for me to bypass the password?

Thanks

i know there is a program that you can dl to get the pws...but to be honest i forget what it was...[sadeyes]

I don't know if this works in w2k but with nt4.0 you can pull the hard drive pop it into another computer then go to that drive and rename the file c:\winnt\system32\config\sam to sam.old or something and this will reset the password to a blank password.

NOTE I HAVE NOT TESTED THIS SOLUTION WITH W2K. BUT DOES WORK FOR NT4.0
