Hi all,

Firstly thanks for taking the time to read this and know in advance any help is greatly appreciated.

The problem i have is that i have a customer running an IP406 (4.2(17) with 5402 and 5410 handsets, the customer advises that on 5410's and the 02's that the speaker phone only works one way (i know the 5402 is half duplex and therefore they would only hear on loud speaker)however he advises this is happening also on the 5410's, been testing on our inhouse 500 and cannot replicate the problem also none of our other customers on 406's have experienced anything similar. We recently upgraded them to 4.2(17)from 3.0(54)to bring them alittle more upto date, however apparently this had also been a problem on the old version.

Any help or opinions would be gratefully recieved

I thought the 5410s were also half duplex, so if you are speaking you wont hear anything coming from the speaker.

5410's are half-duplex. 5402's are 1-way speakers. You can listen and dial while on speakerphone, but you must pick-up the handset to talk.

The 5402 is Monitor only on the speaker i.e you can't ever talk back through it, the 5410 as with nearly all avaya sets is only a half duplex speakerphone i.e you can listen and talk back but not at the same time, don't be fooled by avaya calling it duplex that just means speach goes both ways not both ways at the same time :)

Think of them like a CB radio and that's how they work

AH thanks guys that makes sense was under the impression that as it was called duplex it was full duplex thanks you have all saved me alot of head scratching :)

JUst a bit of futher information from the customer one of the handsets (5410) appears to work on speaker phone calling/recieving however on the overs when attempting to use the speaker phone the mute button lights up and they are unable to switch this up has anyone come across this?

Thanks again for your time

Yup, he's using a 5402. Press the Speaker button and the Mute light comes on too! :)

Don't ask me, I didn't design it.
