Loss of internet connection when connected through VPN

At home I have 3 computers on a cable modem. there are 2 network cards in 1 computer, 1 for public, and the other for the private. I am using a small proxy server program(AnalogX proxy) to access the internet for the other computer on the network. Now when I am on the server(Win98 machine) and I connect to work through the internet using the MS VPN adapter. When I do this all the other computers on the network stop being able to access the internet. does anyone know why?the only reason i can see is that when te VPN connection is made it routes all requests through the VPN connection instead of the cable connection. Does anyone know a way to remedy this problem?

I had the same problem at one point. You need to go into the advanced TCP/IP settings of your client VPN settings and uncheck the box that says 'Use default gateway on remote network.'

Should do the trick.

i have been elected to setup a SOHO network with 10 users with DSL connection and VPN capabilities. Where should I start and how? Any suggestions??????????Thanks!
